The Epiphany of the Lord

Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you.

The Feast of the Epiphany is when the glorious reality of the Incarnation begins to shine out into the world beyond the Jewish people. The Magi from the east are the first non-Jewish people to hear and embrace the message of Jesus the newborn Messiah.

The glory of God has been revealed in the flesh, what we call the incarnation. This message is one that our world is still in desperate need of: to hear about the dignity and worth of the human person, created in the image and likeness of God.

This truth is attacked and undermined in a myriad of ways in our culture, and it is important that we stand up to these attacks and be rooted in the truth. God created us good, male and female, in His image and likeness. That unchanging truth needs to affect and impact everything.

See the beauty of our own humanity…

This week we are encouraging all members of the parish to sign up for Covenant Eyes, and to have it installed on their phones, tablets and computers.

Covenant Eyes is a software that helps to filter out pornographic material and helps to have accountability about what one views online.

The attacks of the culture of death against the most sacred and intimate aspects of our humanity needs to be countered with the truth and dignity of the human person. The Church’s teachings on sexuality are counter-cultural, but they help us to see the beauty of our own humanity in light of God’s plan.

Our bookstore also has several resources for you and your family to check out to help your own ongoing formation.

May God bless you and your family as we continue our journey into the new year filled with the grace of Christ.
